Death and Destruction
The artist Picasso, by this art is trying to show us how the people were wounded and how much they suffered in 1937 during the attack by General Franco. In the attack more than 60% of the town was destroyed and 75% of the people were wounded or dead. As you see in the picture there is a bulb in the top-left- I think this represents the death hovering on peoples head. General Franco didn't even leave the animals live so he even killed the horses and the cows. As you see in the middle-top of the painting there is a hand with a candle. I think it is trying to express hope. There are also many broken many knives and broken swords. In the left side of the painting there is a lady with her dead baby in her hand, looking at the sky where the bombs came from and destroyed the whole of Guernica.
