Fighting for understanding

Ebooo Patel. What a brave name for a man. He always tries to correct what he can with the powers he has. He has made many speeches. He is very brave and is trying to correct the things that are wrong.

I was really shocked when I heard him saying, there was a white game going on, a black game and an Asian game. I think he forgot that the people forgot they were all the same, humans.

If you ask me to realate my personal events like this I will say I can't. I can't because I study in an International school and I don;t see this type of things going around in International places.

Hip-Hop Freedom in Burma

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_kTHvpMb7Y&feature=player_embedded

Thxa Soe is a young boy who does hip-hop im Burma. (Burma's name was changed to Myanmar byt eh gangsters of Burma and Chinese and Koreans call it Burma. It is still called  Myanmar in countrys like the U.S and the U.K.) Thxa Soe is really famous in Burma and is very well known all over the world.

He got interested in the term of hip-hop as a student in the SAE institution. He also had interest in his homeland music and so he combined hip-hop music and his homeland music to make new type of songs. He does this so that the audience can have fun listening to it and they can also understand the problems Burma has and what they need to do to get rid of it.

He has lately released 12 elbums but only 3 were published because of the lyrics, "Hey hey, how are you?" His brother has fled to the U.S as he was scared. Thxa Soe stayed in Burma as he knew that he needed to make Burma better and free of problems.

He says that, "I have too many words, not only me, too many teenagers have too much to say. Because our is very closed country, and the older people have a closed mind, a concentrated mind."

Death and Destruction

The artist Picasso, by this art is trying to show us how the people were wounded and how much they suffered in 1937 during the attack by General Franco. In the attack more than 60% of the town was destroyed and 75% of the people were wounded or dead. As you see in the picture there is a bulb in the top-left- I think this represents the death hovering on peoples head. General Franco didn't even leave the animals live so he even killed the horses and the cows. As you see in the middle-top of the painting there is a hand with a candle. I think it is trying to express hope. There are also many broken many knives and broken swords. In the left side of the painting there is a lady with her dead baby in her hand, looking at the sky where the bombs came from and destroyed the whole of Guernica.

Identities

  VIDEO

Many things shape your identity, even small things. Like in the video by Jesus Colon, as he didn't help the lady with a suitcase and the two children with her. When we see someone in need of help do we offer such help without being asked to do so. It shows that even if you don't  do small things it matters to other people a lot, it also sometimes matters you and you start hating yourself as Jesus Colon had. If you even help people in small things people will think that you are a good person and they will treat as you treated them.

This has also happened to me in life. Once I saw a stranger in help,  with three suitcases and a child. Not knowing her I offered my help to put the suitcases into the taxi and she said yes. I was feeling happy that I had helped a person in need. I f I hadn't helped the woman she would think that I was not such a good boy but as I had helped her she thinks that I am a nice and helping kid. This thing also shapes my identity- if I am good or bad.

John Donne- Poem

No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom

the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

In this poem John Donne is trying to emphasize that each one of us is a part of the greater whole. No one can live alone without any role of society. Everone's life is so connected with others that it is difficult to imagine the flow of life in isolation. If anyone dies, it affects the whole mankind. Imagining a world without a small peice of land called Europe would throw the wholw world in a situation where mankind would not experience the scientific and technological advancements.

In our personal life also each one of our family members and friends help us in making our life complete and meaningful.

AUNG SAN SUU KYI

Aung San Suu Kyi could be considered a hero in many ways. First of all she is a hero because she wanted to help people who really wanted freedom and that's what real heroes do. She has tried to save her country from the military dictatorship who are oppressing the people. In this way she is showing care and concern for the people as have the others like Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela. She is very strong in terms bravery . When she was released from house arrest she kept on speaking up for the country as she wanted the invaders to get out of the country and she wanted to free the country.

The most important thing that Aung San Suu Kyi values is freedom and justice. She wants freedom for her country and also for the people who live in the country. She wants justice because she only had 18 months of house arrest but many other people had been imprisoned for 50- 100. They will be spending their whole in the prison whereas Aung San Suu Kyi was lucky and got released

I too have seen small acts of oppression in school. I have seen many people say mean things to other people by the locker but I do not take part in the conservations as I think that the they will get bigger and more serious and they will reach to the principal. That doesn't mean that I don't want justice, I do but I can't help it. Sadly I feel I am not as brave as Aung San Suu Kyi. But she has still inspired many people like me and I now I am much more brave than I was yesterday. If none of them could be inspired all of us would leave ut these kind of matters and there will be no justice in the world, but its hard. That is why I think that Aung San Suu Kyi is a hero as she was brave and spoke for the country's justice.

ThEmE NoTeBoOk

Do You Want Change?
Eboo Patel is trying to emphasize that we are all one and we are all made by one god, 'Allah'. He is trying to say that we should never harm each other and we should never sit and watch the bad things that are happening instead we should stand up and take action towards the bad things. In the audio he tells that he didn't do anything when his jewish friend was in trouble but after his mistake he has realized that sitting and watching is wrong and you should always take action.

Fatmire Feka
Feka's life is all about forgiveness. She has gone through many disasters. When she was 11 years old her brother, Sami (17) and her sister Sadete (19) were gone missing in the world war 1. For the last ten years she has been searching for them, at least their bodies. She has had a miserable life and now she has stopped searching for her brothers and sisters. She is planning to forgive the people who killed them but she says "Why forgive the people who do bad". Lately in 2002 she has opened a peace club for kids where she gives peace and forgiveness speeches. In the 'Blokes', Hashim, even if he was angry at his friend he forgave him as he had won the competition.

SACHIN TENDULKAR:

I love cricket!!! I love the voice of the leather ball hitting the wood of the bat. I also love the redness of the ball and smoothness of the wooden bat. I suppose that choosing Sachin Tendulkar  as hero is not surprising for me. I chose him because he is a really famous cricket player to me and many others. Sachin Tendulkar is a hero but not in the world of war but in the world of cricket. Sachin Tendulkar has scored many centuries (100 runs) and also won many awards for being the man of the match and also some times for making the Indian team win by a a lot of runs. Now he has about 15,000 runs in his cricket history. I will tell you a story that proves that Sachin Tendulkar is a real hero--->

Once there was a cricket match between the South African team and the Indian team. In that match South Africa had scored 309 runs in 50 overs and after that all of the players were out. Now it was the Indian team's turn to bat and make the 309 runs target. The Indian team batted and scored only 200 runs in 40 overs. While scoring the runs 2 of the Indian batsmen were out because of carelessness. After that came Sachin Tendulkar. He was outstanding on that day and made India win in the 8 overs!!!!

As you now see that cricket is also a war but you fight in it with swords, guns, knives etc. instead in the noble game of cricket you fight with a cricket bat and a leather ball. In cricket no one dies whereas in wars nearly 100,000 of people die everyday. As theseus was an hero in war Sachin Tendulkar is an hero in cricket!!!
